About Us

At Hollywood Breast Clinic we are committed to providing holistic and comprehensive care with the highest possible standards of medical excellence. Subsequent pages explain more about breast disease and detail some of the procedures performed, but first you may wish to know more about my philosophy and career.

Simon Weight

When seeking a breast surgeon, what attributes matter most to you? A strong background in education and training? The ability to listen and give guidance based on experience, expertise and common sense? Beautiful long-term results with a strong emphasis on safety? Quite frankly, you should want your surgeon to offer all that, and more. Surgery is a big decision and Dr Simon Weight understands your concerns. He wants to meet you, learn about your goals, share his ideas and help you make the choices that are right for you. His skills in communicating with his patients and understanding their needs drive the growth of his practice, which has largely been by word of mouth. Dr Weight takes time to build a rapport with his patients, seeing each one as an individual with specific needs to be met.

Education & Training

Qualifying from UWCM in the UK in 1990 Dr Weight then trained as a surgeon in Cardiff, Leicester and Sheffield before gaining his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1994. He was awarded a Higher Doctorate (MD) from the University of Leicester in 1998 for original research and has published many papers in the international journals. In 2000, after an overseas Fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery, he was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship (FRCS) and is on the Register of Specialists in the UK.

Practicing in the UK, New Zealand and Australia since 2000 Dr Weight has focused on breast surgery, encompassing both cancer and cosmetic surgery.

Dr Weight is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) as well as a Member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain & Ireland (ASGBI), the Breast Division of the British Association of Surgical Oncology (BASO), the British Association of Endocrine Surgeons (BAES) and the Breast Division of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is an active participant in the National Breast Cancer Audit.

Clinical Governance

It is important in entrusting your surgery that you can be assured your surgeon is experienced, accredited and accountable in the type of procedure being undertaken. Fellowship of the College of Surgeons is essential but is not an indicator of continuing maintenance of professional standards. Pointers to this would be regular attendance at local, regional, national & international meetings, a commitment to training and audit of results. Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.

My Staff

The staff at Hollywood Breast Clinic are committed and well trained in a holistic approach to patient care. The breast care nurse is fully conversant in all procedures and techniques and is there for support whatever the operation. Nicole, the practice manager, is experienced in the types of products Dr Weight recommends to help ensure your skin is in the best possible condition in the lead up to and following surgery.
